Throwback of the week: the “Cat Paw Riddim”, produced by Lloyd “King Jammy” James
No need to introduce Lloyd James also known as King Jammy. So let’s go straight to the point. The throwback of the week is the “Cat Paw Riddim”. It was played by Steely & Clevie, arranged and mixed by King Jammy and released in 1997 under his own record label Jammys. The riddim features Dennis Brown, Linval Thompson, Terror Fabulous and more.Despite being released in the late 90’s, the “Cat Paw” sounds more like a late 80’s Digital Reggae/Early Dancehall riddim. According to the website Jamrid.com, the riddim was first released in 87 as a compilation entitled “Super Stars Hit Parade Volume 3”. The riddim was not a hit. To be completely honest with you, Steely & Cleevie have played riddims much catchier than this and King Jammy have released so many classics, which overshadow the “Cat Paw Riddim”. However, it remains a decent old school riddim. Check it out, share and comment.Track list:01 – Terror Fabulous – So Many War And Crime02 – Dennis Brown – Running Around03 – Capt Barkey Ft Angel Doolas – All Eyes On Me04 – Galaxy P – Drop Top Caddy05 – Jigsy King – Because Of You06 – Admiral Bailey – Jamaica Way07 – Gary Minott – Greedy08 – Chuck Fender – Does It Pay09 – Anthony B – Unite10 – King Kong – Seize All The Guns11 – Yami Bolo – Wonders And Sign12 – Linval Thompson – Leggo The ViolenceDOWNLOAD
