This weekend, we are throwing back the “College Rock Riddim” #Throwback
The “College Rock Riddim” is another pearl of the early 70’s, which has been remade quite a few times during the past decades. Somewhere between Rocksteady and Reggae, the “College Rock” is uptempo and joyful. It’s characterized by a distinctive jovial bass line and a terrific and mellow horn section lead. The oldest version that I have heard of dates back from the early 70’s and was produced by the legendary Clement “Coxsone” Dodd for Studio One. I gathered a couple of tracks that were recorded on the “College Rock Riddim” during different eras. I hope you’ll enjoy it. Do not hesitate to share and comment.Track list:
- Jackie Mitto – Freak Out (Prod. by C. “Coxsone” Dodd for Studio One, 1972)
- Mighty Diamonds – Natural Natty (Virgin Records, 1976)
- Buju Banton – Buju Moving (Prod. by D. Germain for Penthouse Records, 1993)
