This #ThrowbackThursday, I decided to share with you the “I Love King Selassie Riddim” in honor to Haile Selassie, since it was his 122nd earth strong yesterday.
The “I Love King Selassie Riddim”, produced by A. Simpson for Safire Records was released in 2000. It is a remake of the riddim of Black Uhuru‘s 1981 single of the same name. This modern version features Buju Banton, Jah Cure, Sizzla, Luciano and Triston Palma. The riddim sort of has a western vibe brought up by a heavy rocking bassline and the set of synth strings adds dynamism to the rhythm. It’s a nice one, make sure you check it out.
