Penthouse Flashback Series: “Swing Easy Riddim”
The “Swing Easy Riddim” is another Reggae riddim that can be added to the list of classic riddims that one can recognize from the first measures.
Previous versions
This riddim has been remade, and re-interpreted many times since Coxsone produced the song “Swing Easy,” made famous by The Soul Vendors in 1967.
All the existing versions of this riddim do not include that characteristic horn section that makes you feel like rocking. But even without it, one can tell it’s the “Swing Easy” because of its swinging bass line.
The 2013 Penthouse’s digital releases
In 2013, Penthouse Records digitally released a compilation of songs recorded on a recut of this classic riddim, as part as their “Flashback Series.”
This various-artist album features songs that were recorded during the mid 90’s by Buccaneer, Richie Stephens, Wayne Wonder, Nana McLean, Tony Rebel, and more. Click here to view the track list.
The compilation has been released on all major platforms, such as iTunes. You may click here to preview the compilation or buy it now.
The second volume of the riddim, released in 2017, is also available on digital outlets.
