This Sunday, rock to the sweet melody of Cocoa Tea’s voice
Active since the 70’s, Cocoa Tea is one of these artists who possesses an incredible talent and longevity… He’s also been of the few early Dancehall artists who’s had a consistent career from then until now. Since the release of his first album “Weh Dem A Go Do…Can’t Stop Cocoa Tea” in 1985, he put out at least 20 more studio albums. The reason of his success lies in the quality of his music and his effortless flow. No one can deny how smooth Cocoa Tea flows whether he’s singing a Lovers Rock song or a Dancehall track. He doesn’t need autotune nor “pro fools” (Pro Tools) as he calls it. During his long career he’s worked with some of the greatest Jamaican producers and he collaborated with various artists such as Shabba Ranks, Home T, and more. By the way, one of my favorite track by Cocoa Tea is “Pirate” featuring Shabba and Home. So if you do not know what to listen to this Sunday, I invite you to listen to a little playlist for you.If you want to know more about his career, you can also check out this exclusive interview of Cocoa Tea and Yellow Man by Robbo Ranx on BBC Dancehall extra.
