Remembering Sugar Minott (b. 05/26/1956, d. 07/10/2010)
Today, Sugar Minott would have turned 62. Unfortunately, he has passed away about 8 years ago. Born Lincoln Barrington ‘Sugar’ Minott in 1956, he began his career as a child in sound systems. Later on, he launched his own sound system Gathering of Youth.As a teen, in 1969, he formed the group African Brothers, alongside Tony Tuff and Derrick Harriot. Then, in 1977, he released his debut album as a solo artist “Live Loving,” produced by Clement “Coxsone” Dodd for Studio One. Ever since, he released many more albums as his career lasted about 3 decades.To celebrate his earth strong today, our team has selected 5 tracks that you should listen to.
