When you think Dancehall what comes to mind? When you think of Ocho Rios what also comes to mind? Now when you think of Jamaica what comes to mind? The gritty, garrison life is echoed in the sentiments of Dancehall. The fun creative side of Jamaica is also embedded in Dancehall. Now straight from the coast. Right out of the beautiful parish of St. Ann we present to you Papa Jack. One of the most authentic and loved artist coming out of St Ann and Ocho Rios. He has a smile that will illuminate a room and demeanor that shows so much humility and reverence. There is also a humane, confrontational side which is reflected in his music. It shows the leadership and revolutionary side of the artist.
New project and new EP which consist of three tracks are about to drop this September. He took time out during the pandemic to carve out this piece of art. The project is called “ABOVE DEM”. The witty bold artist titled his EP on the reality that he wants to be always above the chaos of life. He wants to show, teach and grow. Growing in the garrison and having to build everything from the ground up Papa Jack is quite fine with building his empire along with his manger Tandra Jhagroo.
His single “Everyday” is a party anthem dedicated to the women and general youths on the corner, garrison and the everyday trenches of Jamaica. The second single “Chill” is a heart felt gangster track. One where he warns young thugs that we can and they should look out for the best in life. His songs are a clear reflection of his daily vibes and routine.
The 3rd track on the EP “Clap Dem” is all about the trenches. It’s all gangster and reminding everyone he’s just as versatile as the best of them. I’m sure this EP will resonate with the die hearted Dancehall heads. It will be distributed by VPal and the EP is produced by Push A Yute Inc who seems to be focused on putting out solid projects.
