Tribute to Marcus Garvey: The “Marcus Garvey Riddim”, produced by Black Arrow Records in 2005
In 1887, on this exact same day (08/17), the Jamaican political leader, Marcus Garvey, was born. I would like to share with you a riddim that was named after him in order to pay him tribute.
The “Marcus Garvey Riddim” was produced by Black Arrow Records in 2005. It is a remake of the 1975 single “Marcus Garvey”, made famous by the legendary Reggae artist Burning Spear.
This modern version was released about a decade ago and features Sizzla, Tony Rebel, Jimmy Riley, Bunny Rugs and more. It’s definitely not the best remake of the history of modern Reggae music yet it’s a decent middim to listen to. Check it out now. Let us know what you think of it. Do not hesitate to comment and share.
