Itation and Bizzarri Records present the “Swing Heavy Riddim”
Itation and Bizzarri Records brings to you the “Swing Heavy Riddim,” a modern remake of the “Swing Easy Riddim.“
The “Swing Easy” is easily recognisable by its horn section. Nevertheless, certain versions like I Roy‘s 1972 record “Sufferer’s Psalm,” produced by Errol “E.T.” Thompson, do not include any horn section.
The very first version of this riddim was likely produced by Clement “Coxsone” Dodd for Studio One in 1967[1]. That year, The Soul Vendors recorded “Swing Easy.” Johnny “Dizzy” Moore, a former alpha boy’s school student and founder of the Skatalites, was probably the one who recorded that trademark trumpet lick.
The “Swing Heavy Riddim” is another version of a classic riddims amongst many. Yet, it’s a pretty good riddim relatively to some other releases of 2014. This time, the producers have blended Reggae and Hip Hop together to come up with a heavy riddim.
The compilation features artists like Turbulence, Lutan Fyah, Delly Ranks, Skarra Mucci and more. Do not hesitate to check it out, and leave a comment below if you like it.
